The challenge
The team at ActiveCollab has done a tremendous job building the software and creating great website content. They have gathered a nice collection of articles and infographics that provide advice for managing all kinds of projects, as well as those that explain how their software works.
They were a lesser-known brand in the project management space. A few big brands were using their tool, but you’d be hard-pressed to find them on “top project management tools” lists. They wanted to change that by boosting the visibility of their website and increasing brand awareness.
The strategy
To increase visibility and brand awareness, there were two key elements we needed to hit: we had to target the right sites with the right content.
Since their tool was predominantly used by developers, designers, and marketers, we targeted high-authority sites in those niches. Furthermore, in collaboration with the client, we identified what are the main pain points of creative teams when managing diverse teams and complex projects. We used that information as a springboard to pitch and write content that will actually be helpful to their target audience.
When the guidelines allowed it, we used every chance to mention how ActiveCollab can help streamline specific processes and break through common project management obstacles.
The results
Through personalized, manual outreach, we’ve featured and published dozens of editorials on top-tier sites in the business and marketing niche, some of them listed below.
As a byproduct, links from high authority sites resulted in a growth of 120 positions in SERPs for 20 relevant keywords they were tracking, which more than doubled their organic traffic.
An increase in referral traffic was visible as well, among other improvements.
